No can help, Guys, but here's to show one example of parallel 'Olili.
So... I sitting with my pal Keoni. We at intra-intertribal ceremony for the opening of a community house on this side on the Sound. Since we Hawaii first people, we firs'est to "Present" or give testimony. So, before-time we prepare our conch blowing, short oli/prayer and liddle-bit story telling presentation. BUT! I got 'light-headed' sick and split for lie down so we missed our cue/spot. Many hours later but just before dinner break, the coordinator approach us fo bless the meal.
Keoni blew beautifully and I softly tapped a systolic "heartbeat" on Keoni's native American drum. Then came time for the words, Karl. I did the simple, simple doxology in Hawaii totally off key/pitch, enunciation, pronunciation, breath, delivery, etc., etc. I did the verbals with eyes closed. Nevah wen matter... The "Ha" or "Puuwai" wen take over coz wen us guys wen open our eyes 100% (300?) of the Pacific northwest Indians were standing. Breathless! We hoi off stage, "never more to say goodbye". Minahs, though, cause kooka-pyla handshakes and thank you's later wen hemo da maka wai. And, at 2300 I get one email from the Cowlitz Tribe (sent via modern-day, handheld, 'smoke-signal-device') get two gifts fo me; please, go-come collect.
See...bout 1797 - 1897 the Hawaiians on board one Hudson Bay Company ship wen pull into the Cowlitz shore for goods-trading. The ship-captain wen send out the Hawaiians for setup the trading post, which later turned into a fort then a village, etc. Out of remembrance for that occasion (200 years ago?) the Cowlitz representative wen thank us today!!!!!!
No worry da way you wen do em coz HOW you wen do mo important, Uncho's an Auntie's, coz 200 years bumbye your mana going get rememba'd!!!!
Aloha, Herb

Rik, you young whipper-snapper, where you been? Wheezing on the toe slope of some molehill you are trying to climb? No wonder Zoom-ster "plays the tuba" so much, what with you hanging on his tail for a free ride up the hill! Does he carry your air sickness bag and crying towel, too?
You know, I've heard you play, too; you're pretty bad, but you're no Rik Nieves! Hey, I clumb back on the axe and am playing with and in front of and behind and next to other folks again; must have been feeling sorry for myself that night. Speaking of weird axes, I've made even weirder ones now. Funny, they don't sound any good either!
Just kidding, old friend. Hey, the rest of you guys should be glad I'm the only friend slkho has, otherwise you, too, would be subject to his insane/inane altitude-starved rants. |

Gramps-Gramps-Gramps, Wow...you wrote back!!!, you weren't using one of the Stephen Hawkins voice translators were you? I'm guessing the tour bus going from Nome to Leisure World in Anchorage stopped just long enough for you to hop off, pop a FloMax, and grab a bran muffin, then quickly visit the TP, then go off to that Bingo Marathon you were training for. Good work Karl..good work.
Good to know you jumped back in the saddle, (oops, I mean Depends)played to another jammed packed crowd of three this time...oooooo, the pressure. Playing in back of them was a good strategy, (closer to the door)...all the old geezers in the crowd probably thought it was piped in music instead of you live.ha ha I was able to visit Rainier, couple of lesser mole hills, just got back from the G.Canyon...good fun. The knees held up pretty good, but I think their days are numbered.
Nice to know you made another axe, I think in those old Japanese Horror movies, Godzilla needs a new enemy...I can just picture one of your axes battling Godzilla to the death...zap-zap...(death ray shoots out) Zzzzzt...Zzzzzt...Auuuuuuk (godzilla respponds) Both he & your Axe step on downtown Tokyo while poorly lipped synced Jappanese citizens run for cover screaming GODRIZZA GODRIZZA, or AXE-O-RA!!!! (i think I see the wires holding up the axe....some guy in a rubber AXE suit) hahahahahahahaaa Got to go, I'm guessing your impatiently looking out your window with great anticipation for the next meals-on-wheels truck to deliver your next helping soft food. (hmmmm, yum, corn mush) Later Gummy!! Love you Bro, as always.

slkho, what are you smokin' man? Get a new knee asap, you won't be sorry. Do the worst first, see if the other improves on its own. mine did. Played handball with three guys in their forties this weekend. Old age and treachery beat out youth and skill yet again.

Friends? Slkho has friends?
What is "slkho" anyway, Slick Ho? Anything like a Hana Ho?
hmmmm....
Come to think of it, with all that long hair . . I bet the Marine's "Don't Ask Don't Tell" policy was a good thing.
That Zoom fella, . . . he real hoofhearted. |

Ouch Mikaele!!! I believe the 'don't ask, don't tell' was originally created for you Navy Slime Swabbies...all alone at sea with nothing but rust control, and Broke Back Mountain videos...."you complete me chief petty officer...." Jeesh, you Navy worms...all the same, you'll never be good enough for the U.S.MARINE CORPS...Oo Rah!!!!
~slkho
p.s. slkho is an adult theme moniker...think about it Navy-boy |

That's the spirit, Rik, play from teh heart, the best you can, and share. That's all I try to do. I was back playing handball after only three months after knee replacement. Doc said I could do anything but run. |
