This week on Pakele Live!, Jennifer Perri celebrates the release of her first full-length recording, "He Mele Aloha," with a CD release party that includes special guests Herb Ohta, Jr., Jon Yamasato, David Kamakahi, and Darin Leong!

Jennifer began making a name for herself at the age of eight, performing on television and in theater. At age 13, she won Hawai’i’s top youth talent contest “OKC TV,” and by age 14 she had signed with JVC Victor Entertainment Japan. She released her first self-titled mini-album in 2001. R&B/reggae superstar Shaggy then discovered her, and asked her to sing backup on his European tour. She was then asked by Jake Shimabukuro to be a featured artist on the soundtrack for his movie, “Hula Girl.” In 2008, she joined the cast of the hit Broadway musical “Rent” in Japan. (Playing the role of “Mimi,” she was the only cast member not from Japan.)

Also appearing will be 'ukulele master Herb Ohta, Jr., former Pure Heart member Jon Yamasato, Na Hoku Hanohano Award winner David Kamakahai (who will also showcase several songs from his soon-to-be-released second album!), and Hawaii Music Award nominee Darin Leong. (Herb, Jon, David, and Darin, along with Casey Olsen on steel, will also be Jennifer's band!)

It's ALWAYS fun when Herb, Jon, David and Darin get together, and even more so when they're playing "back up band" to Jennifer - so join us tomorrow night, 3/12/09, from 6 to 8 pm HST in the Pakele Lounge at the Ala Moana Hotel in Honolulu.

If you can't be there in person, watch online at http://www.pakelelive.com/. Those in Japan can watch at http://www.j-wave.co.jp/

(For those on the mainland, please remember that Hawai'i does NOT participate in daylight saving, so adjust your viewing times accordingly! For example, 6 p.m. Hawai'i time is now 9 p.m. Pacific.)

Aloha!

Anyone else in Taropatch land watching tonight's show? Sounding great but the time change is killer here on the east coast. 1:30am and still going strong... until tomorrow.
