Yeah; shame though that T-Dan won't be with Kamaka at the Oregon & Washington shows (though I hear good things about the guitarist who will be there, Joseph Thompson).

But there will be a California gig, with T-Dan playing: Saturday, June 20
Two Shows: Matinee 3:30 PM, Evening: 7:00 PM
Coffee Gallery Backstage, Altadena
Ticket reservations: (626) 398-7917 (After May 1st please)

Mahalo, Retro... Kamaka is good no matter who's playing slack-key in da background... I had the pleasure of playing at his storytelling/slack-key show in January at the Coffee Gallery and was fun for me to listen to him while I played....It was even better than playing while watching TV at home, 'cuz no one told me to stop playing and wait for the commercials!

Kamaka's stories are both heart-warming and funny, and delivered with a sincerity that can aptly be described as the aloha spirit.

The Coffee Gallery is a wonderful venue for close-up acoustic music, and very fitting for Kamaka's storytelling. We sold out in January there and was a fun time for all. The bags of coffee decorating the stage (actually full of foam) keep the sound from bouncing around in the small room. The owner Bob Stane does a a great job of hosting a wide variety of musical acts. Check him out and support local acoustic music:

Braddah Kamaka had the Valley Pub's intimate crowd in the palm of his hand last night as he took us on a vivid and kolohe trip back in time to his hanabata days living on Oahu. With the nahenahe music of Joe Thompson's guitar accompanying him in the background, Kamaka had the crowd crying tears of laughter, and also had them reaching for kleenex as he tugged on a few of the heartstrings from his past -- heartstrings that reverberated within each one of us because we'd all been there before...a long, long time ago.

If can, go check braddah Kamaka out. Going make you feel good.
