I'm very impressed with the talent lineup featured every single night at Chai's Island Bistro (Aloha Tower Marketplace) -- and this month features some stellar island musicians...like Olomana (yes, the whole gang!), Teresa Bright, Na Palapalai (now with new member, Keoni Souza), Maunalua and more.

Reservations are recommended if you're going for dinner; or just have a drink and sit at the bar (free!).

Here's the April performance calendar:

Best restaurant I have ever been to. The food is spectacular, a total work of art. Afeast for the eyes as well as the tummy. It is beautiful on the inside. You cannot beat the music. Holy mackanoli, they get the best of the best. It is a small venue which makes it perfect for the music. During breaks and pau hana, the musicians are delighted to talk story (maybe not Robert Cazimero so much). When you make your reservations for dinner tell them you want to sit up front by the music. We went when Uncle Jerry guyz were playing (Uncle Jerry, Hoku Zuttermeister and that SWEET Barry Kimokeo) and we were as close to them as a patro could be. If you sit at the bar, no can see da guys, but can hear the music good. This is also where John Koko and I showed each other our heart surgery scars. What a sweetie he is. Auwe - he is too old for my daughter, and he get one wife anyhow. But Barry Kimokeo....now that's another story. And Braddah Jay wen buy me a lei right there in da restaurant, a lady came around selling leis insai the restaurant and Jay got me one pua kenikeni - onaona. I still have the lei, dried and hanging in the music room/computer room.

Try the giant tiger prawns. Ono beyond compare!

Possibly the finest restaurant we have ever been to, though not for the feint of wallet. Chai's supports Hawai`ian musicians, better than most venue's can afford. Can do without breaking the banj, but may stretch it some.
