I agree "Kahealani" is a beautiful piece. I could be mistaken, but I believe Jeff wrote it in honor of his wife of the same name. I tried to slowly pick it out for a few weeks once when I couldn't get the tune out of my head, but I finally gave up. I don't often play in this tuning, but it's just Drop C with an E on top. The high E string lets you play some of the high parts of this song more easily (if memory serves, there's a very pretty D minor chord up around the 12th and 13th frets). Have fun with it.
This is the tuning also known as Keola's (Beamer) C and many of his songs are in this tuning. It is one of my personal favorites. It has an advantage for newer players in that it is standard tuning with the 5th and 6th strings lowered to provide nice open base notes in the key of C. Aloha, Allen
