I have been informed by Pua Kai that there are a few spaces left for Jeff's workshop in Manhattan Beach on the 14th, probably 3 - 4 more. And sounds like there will be some ono food there too! So please let her know and don't forget to save at least one of the dates for his special performances that weekend! |

I have to miss Jeff's workshop, but guess what... he played for me on my flight from Los Angeles to Honolulu this morning. There's a really nice special feature video starring Jeff Peterson on Hawaiian Airlines right now. One of the many reasons I always fly Hawaiian...

A humbling week for an aspiring guitar player. I started by watching banjo savant Dennis Caplinger (playing with Bryan Berline) do amazing things with 4 strings. Two nights later I got to see Daniel Ho (playing with Darlene Ahuna) do amazing things with 4, 6 and 88 strings. Finished it up last night being front row center to watch Jeff Peterson in Dana Point. He only did 2 solid hours and only played in about 6 different tunings, playing like there was no tomorrow. He's clearly one of the best players I've ever seen. He also has a great relaxed presence and works the crowd well. The Lord of the Strings series in Orange County has just started to showcase Slack Key, having recently had Led and Mike Kaawa followed last night by Jeff. Most of the audience was there for the guitar work and I think were delighted with the mix of material that Jeff played, from Punahele to "Blue" Hawaii to lots of original tunes. Mitch Chang has found his groove with this connection and I think Lord of the Strings will surely have Jeff back. Catch him at Dukes in Malibu on Saturday and Sunday in Redondo Beach. I never get tired of his performances and am looking forward to seeing him again at the Falsetto Festival in July. Way to go Jeff and Mitch. |
