Aloha Keith,

Wish I known you...I would have called you up. Thanks for the comments. Last Friday was fun...every Friday it's different. I try to have different band members come by and sit in...last week you got a glimpse of an 'unknown' talent for falsetto and steel guitar. His name is Kevin Kanemoto from Pukalani. Phil Secretario on bass guitar and vocals from Lahaina. This Friday it will be Phil and Pani sitting in with me. And then we have open mic/stage. Sometimes we get the hula dancers stop by, uncles who want to sing and so forth. Next time...I will call you up.

During the week of the Slack Key event from Tuesday June 17 thru Saturday June 21, The Blue Marlin Bar & Grill and KNUI AM 900 will be sponsoring Kihoalu Jam Week with me doing the hosting. I am inviting all of the players to come by and jam between 6-9pm with Aloha Friday & Saturday to feature Brother Nolan, Mike Kaawa and most of the headliners for the concert event on Sunday.

So you are all welcome to come by and play!!!

I'm still waiting for the Waihee Gang to come by...free drinks to those who perform.....

Aloha,

Don

Looking forward to Paradise....
aloha, Julie

E Kevin,

You are welcomed to come jam. Last week we had a steel guitarist, the week before last Braddah Nolan, this week...who knows? It's been happening and the location is central. Boy will be airing the commercials for the Aloha Friday gigs and for the Kihoalu Jam in honor of the Slack Key Concert slated for Sunday, June 22, 2003.

I have been hired by the owners to coordinate the music events for the Blue Marlin Bar & Grill and by mid Summer we will be having more Hawaiian Entertainment based on the 'Demand' by tourist and the locals alike.

We got plans for this restaurant and another location within the property to bring back not only the music but the culture of Hawaiiana as well. The new highway improvements and the harbor construction will be completed soon and the owners have a common goal...'local...music and food'.

Sort of like Hanks Place in Kaimuki and the old Water Town in Honolulu. Same thing...slowly the musicians and dancers going home from work on the Westside have been stopping by to get some eats and of course I call them up to sing or dance. Not too much gigs on Maui or even on the other islands has this 'thang'.

Anywho, come by and lets jam!!!

Aloha,

Don

Greetings Don and thank you for allowing me to practice some performance art. I arrive on Maui from Honolulu on Thursday the 19th and plan on meeting and jamming with as many musicians as I can. Since this is only my 3rd time visiting Maui I'll be doing the proverbial "tourist" thingee first, driving around the island checking out the sights. So if anyone sees a somewhat lost and confused driver in front of you please be patient for it may be me. See you all!

You and everybody is welcomed to come by...from Tuesday June 17 right thru Saturday June 21 from 6p til 9p the jam begins...KNUI Radio along with Boy Kanae, Pani & Myself will be hosting the event and simulcast on the internet via Boy's website at KPOA.com (yet to be announced). This way the rest of the world will have a chance to see what's happening here on Maui.

I just got a confirmation from Milton Lau that I go on at 3pm Sunday June 22nd at the MACC... Mike Kaawa, Milton Lau, Noland and Cyril along with myself will be doing several benefit performances around Maui from Friday and Saturday and end up at the Blue Marlins. This year the Sheraton Maui will be hosting the artist from outside of Maui, so everybody gotta stop at the Blue Marlin Grill because its located at the only exit and entrance highway to the Sheraton Maui.

George Kahumoku just emailed me about the Blue Marlin Grill...he'll be coming by also.

And...SlackKey Bill sat in with us last Friday and the Blue Marlins...awesome Bill...couple other guys came by as well Kawika, Popoki & their Nebreska Ohana. Bruddah Joe came by and sang some Jawaiian Fiji hits...it just gets bettah...

Boy Kanae & Pani was my band last week and will continue from now on...come by and experience the fun.

Aloha, Don

"Bruddah" Don! Much Mahalo for allowing me to jam with you guys at the "Blue Marlin"! And a very Special Mahalo to Aunty for giving me the courage to jus'press. I really had a great time! Wow! My first Gig, and with you guys backing me up! And helping me cover my mistakes...ha! ha! ha!

For that moment under the spotlight, I felt on top of the World! It was quiet a rush! I encourage all of you here at TaroPatch, and our Waihe'e Valley, Maui Gang to make that stop at the "Blue Marlin Restaurant and Grill" to be apart of Open-Mike Night. 'Kanikajam with "Bruddah" Don and his Band! You'll have just as much fun as I did! Most importantly, they have a really great Menu of Seafood Favorites! Great Bar, terrific Waiters, and Waitresses! The Manager is really a great guy too!

"Bruddah" Don! Much Mahalo again! I look forward to kanikajam with you guys again. Oh! Make sure Aunty's there too! When you see her...please give her my Love and Aloha. Take care! God Bless! Good Health and Prosperity! A Hui Hou! Malama Pono.....

Hey Bill,
Brother, with your style, and your aloha, we heard you over here on the mainland, and stopped what we were doing to listen.

Now, we know what Kiho'alu really is.

Congratulations on your gig my friend.

Yo Kevin,

I am scheduled from Tuesday thru Saturday of that week...come by. Bill really impressed me with his performance...some good he sounded. Good job Bill.

Yeah, Kevin, come by...all kines of people coming by now. George Kahumoku emailed me for the directions and said he'll stop by. We (slack key people) needed an outlet like this for the longest time. Now, steel guitarists, guitarists, singers and even hula dancers have been stopping by to share and enjoy the kaukau.

Bill was fortunate to meet Aunty Mahilani Poepoe. She's been traveling with me to assist me with the album and my olelo to help me write more tunes in Hawaiian. We almost pau with the project. This week I got your brother Sheldon scheduled to tweak each vocal track.

Other than that, I just got a call from Noland and Mike saying that they flying in on Friday, June 21st. We got some benefits to do and on Saturday Mike is playing at Borders for his 2nd Solo album release. On Friday, I got Mike & Noland schedule to jam with me. You are welcome everynight if can...I may wanna take off to save the fingers for Sunday. I go on at 3:05 p.m. Sunday.

Until then Brother Kevin...maybe I see you this Saturday...I invited Mike and Noland to the Waihee get together...they bringing their throw nets for 'holo holo' in the morning. We see...would be nice to have them Saturday...whew!!! Going be goodfun.

Aloha,
Don Kauli'a
