OK... I have the same question that salmonella had but the instrument in question is a 1923 Martin Tiple.
I am not the owner of the tiple. I am merely the "subcontractor" on this repair since qualified repairmen are few and far between in Hawai'i. Once the neck has been reset at Mandolin Brothers, then we need to choose a pickup.
The owner's qualification is that this has to be an internally-mounted pickup. I agree with him that if you are in any way a "kinetic" player (and I don't mean Jake Shimabukuro "kinetic," but if you move around a lot), the surface-mount pick-ups just amplify way too much movement.
The question is do the options change much from those offered up in the last thread given the diminutive nature of the tiple? We have been leaning toward the K&K Twin Spot, but any piezo is in the end going to sound like... a piezo.
Thanks in advance.

Bill Not sure if this helps your question...
There are certainly more up to date techies here but I have settled on undersaddle pickups for all my guitars. I don't like the hand, finger, and thumping noises that are amped by the other types. By themselves, undersaddles are just ok. However, they sound very good if you go through an LR Baggs PADI pre-amp--even the ones with battery power. I use lr-baggs element active undersaddle btw. Using the PADI and Baggs undersadle pickups, my guitars sound very natural. I have tried K&K on my custom built guitar but ended up snipping the wires and going back to undersaddle.

I had a Double Dot, under bridge, pickup installed on my Kamaka tenor uke. It sounds great! No extraneous noises, goes right into my amp. |

I like K&K too. But there are some new thingies out there that seem interesting. Check out reviews in Acoustic Guitar Mag. |

After reading the above posts it jogged my memory that my favorite pickups actually were:
...a) Haven't we met somewhere before?
...b) You remind me of someone I knew.
This probably explains why I did marry until fairly late in life!
