Launched fr our new "ranchito" outside Prescott, went to friends' for Xmas Day dinner. Brought gtr. Largely expected to play "typical" Xmas tunes, did some. One random neighbor joined who's Hawai`ian & before ya know it we went waay beyond "Mele Kalikimaka"...
My Hawai`ian wife gamely sang along w/traditional Xmas fare but lit up [as did the septuagenerian lady who joined in] when I played some "local" stuff. Did NOT re-tune as we were out-doors @ ~5100' elev; 1st time I played some of the "repertoire" in standard tun'g...
All good. The renditions seemed acceptable to old-school folk, good time had by all. Great "exercise" to deliver meles I'm dialed to do in taropatch or t'patch/dropped C in std tun'g.
It's lovely to play in slack tunings; I'd prefer it. Net net = delivered suitable iterations without re-tun'g, sittin' around an out-door chiminea w/cold winds swirling about.
Hope everyone's had a great Xmas, wish all an elegant/safe/deliriously happy New Year.
