Thanks so much, Keith Marzullo for the ride, Kevin for the guidance, and all the players and listeners for a lifetime memory. At Keith's urging I hopped an Aloha shuttle and joined the gang at the church in Waihe`e. As Uncle Ray would say, "words cannot express." I'll get some pictures up when we get back (on Tuesday, boo hoo) to the mainland and a high speed connection.
OK, don't read this if you weren't at Waihe`e ...
Please email me at fguidry @ yahoo.com and remind me your name and everyone elses. I turned 58 this year and it's all good except for the memory, and my trick of whispering voice notes into the digital camera didn't cover my bases.
So many thanks to everyone, lucky live Maui, see you soon, Fran

So glad you had the chance to be at Waihe`e with some of our (Sarah's, too) favorite people, Fran. I don't know of any regular gathering like it, anywhere. Sarah and I miss everyone terribly, but we *will* be back. Dunno when, but we *will* be back. Thanks for the reminder, Fran and we can't wait to see the pix. Everyone who can, and cares, should make an effort like you did to be with Kevin dem.
(And to the Maui guyz, howzabout coming back and posting here - been too long!)
Aloha no,

Ho! What a session it was! It was my first time there and definitely not the last. Kevin and his brother Sheldon are the essence of aloha, to be sure. We played from 11:30 until 6 pm! Let's see, there was: Kawika and Kitty, Steve ("juspress" here); Ed Garces, Randy, Keith Marzullo, Fran of course, Bob Vogele (also from Hana) lending the beautiful sounds of his autoharp and harmonica, Kevin's cousin Hal, oh and Kawika and Kitty's friend Emily playing mandolin. We had quite an orchestra! I'm sure I'm forgetting someone... Well, in any case, it was a day of sweet, sweet music and friends!

aloha all,
it was so much fun!!!
i've put up some photos on http://homepage.mac.com/keithmarzullo/PhotoAlbum1.html Anyone remember the name of Bob's wife? (Bob's fiancee name is Anne, or is it Lisa? Both theories have been made. She plays guitar, but is just learning slack key. Bob, by the way, also is great on the harmonica).

Thanks for the pix Keith. Man, haven't seen Sheldon in a looong time (except in passing at OGG). But, did't Kitty and Dave bring the amazing jumping minidog Pono? Also, it is good to know that Duke *finally* got away from work and made it from Hana. Duke, you gotta get back more often. And, if anyone could play the bass that way, it would be Kevin. Also, it looks like Ed has a different (maybe new?) guitar.

i've never met pono but i did find out that their next door neighbor is keali`i! woof! and, kitty and dave brought some great food too.
kevin sounded great playng the bass that way. i didn't know it could be done. sheldon was awesome, as usual.
i don't know if ed's guitar is new, but his haircut sure is! i didn't recognize him at first. on the other hand, i had a hard time noticing what was different about duke (no beard).
fran blew the group away with his version of grandfather's clock, by the way. it sounded great...

Aloha kakou, It was a truly amazing day - thanks everyone for coming to share their music and now photos. Great photos, Keith. I thought Bob's fiancee was Lisa?? Can't wait to see Fran's pics, too. Wasn't that Fran's guitar that Ed was playing in that photo? I also didn't recognize Ed at first with his new haircut. Hopefully next trip you can meet Pono, Keith, he is a fun dog. Fran, we did think it was alittle strange you talking to your camera - what will technology bring next! Reid & Sarah - you were missed - hope it's not too long before you visit again. Duke, so glad you made it and we will try and get together more often. Mahalo to everyone, especially Kevin and Sheldon, who made it such a special day! Malama Pono, >^..^<

Congratulations Fran,
On joining the Waihe'e Ohana ! Cynthia and I have been there just twice, both times in June during George's workshop. At those times, there were not as many folks at the jam as you experienced, but the feeling was still very special. I am very glad that the people who run the Church are open to supporting this gathering.

Here's the two photos I took this week, then just relaxed and enjoyed, especially after seeing Keith and Fran taking so many! http://homepage.mac.com/kittndave/PhotoAlbum2.html
Pops. let Kevin - OhanaBrown - know your dates and he can check his schedule. It's usually every Saturday, but sometimes other things come up. The turn out last week was one of the best I've ever seen. Aloha, >^..^< |

Mahalo to all the photographers for sharing the pix!
Keith: Bob's fiance is "Lisa".
Reid: Yep, now I know what I've been missing all this time! No more, though! It's too much fun. Looking forward to the next one.

hi all,
okay, lisa it is! thanks... and yes, now i remember, that's fran's sunburst guitar that ed is playing. i forget what ed was playing, but i do recall that it was a fast number and i was impressed with how clean it was. fran had a great story about how the luthier did the sunburst to cover up for a ding she had put into the face by dropping a router.

Aloha All!
Ok, here's the scoop - the guitar belonged to Fran. It was such a beautiful guitar I just had to play my favorite -Kuuipo Ona Ona on that guitar to convince myself that I am really overdue for a guitar upgrade. Thanks Fran and I do like your version of the Ona Ona better but that would be a little too advanced for me.
The hair is NEW since May but enough hair talk. Hey that was a great jam. Kevin, I forgot to thank Sheldon, please relay the message. Mahalo to our Taropatch gang too - Keith, Fran, Duke, Steve, Popoki, Kawika, and Kevin. Bruddah Bill, where were you?
