Thanks for being our scribe, Rich! I sent you an email with a couple of fixes.
And . . . don't worry about the CD's . . . happy to do it! Besides, the minor cost will be nicely buried within the cookie books (all my CPA will see is a couple more eggs and some flour).

Aloha,
That looks great! I would like to add the following for some of my favs (actually songs I can do cold, my favs are *'ed, we can do whatever with the others, they may be your favs and you can solo or whatever).
When we are ready with a few 20 or so? I can see if Paul will indulge us and record them for good keeping. If we have it down we can pound them out pretty quick..... maybe.
*Poni Aloha C (not in book) *U'ulani in C (not in book Akaka Falls C 10 *Alika C 14 Beautiful Kaua'i C 24 *My Yellow Ginger Lei C 185 *Royal Hawaiiam Hotel C 242 *Ku'u Pua I Paoakalani C 143 *Green Rose Hula G 36 (Jeni's fav and in G too) *Hale'iwa Paka C 38 Hanalei Moon C 40 Haole Hula C 44 (Jack's fav) Hawaii Aloha C 45 Hawaii Pono'i C 47 *Hawaiian Cowboy C 48 (I think we almost got this one) *He Aloha No'O Honolulu C 50 Henehene Kou 'Aka C 60 *Hi'ilawe G 62 (yes in G!!!) *Ho'okipa Paka C 74 *I Ali'i No 'Oe C 80 Kalama'ula C 101 Kalena Kai C or G 103 Kalua C 105 Kanaka Waiwai C 108 *Kane'ohe C 110 Kaulana Na Pua C or G 115 Ke Kali Nei Au (Hawaiian Wedding Song) C 122 Kuhio Bay C 134 Kupa Landing C 135 Lanakila Kawaihau F 145 (yes F - too hard to transcribe ) Lovely Hula Hands C or G on a really good day 155 *Maika'i Kaua'i C 160 *Maile Lei F (I actually changed it to F)162 Maui Girl C 168 Meleana E C 172 Miloli'i C 174 Moloka'i Nui A Hina C 178 'Opae E C 208 Pua Lililehua C 226 (I like this one really really slow not the way we do it.) Pupu Hinuhinu C 234 *Sanoe C 243 Sassy C 244 *Sweet Lei Mokihana C 249(G on a good day - i.e no cold no guuu... - goes for all of these) Sweet Lei Lani C 250 *To You Sweet Heart C 256 Waikaloa C or G 274 *Waiomina C 276 (Jeni's new fav)
These all need timing practice as you all but I have them down pretty cold. I'd also like to learn the Docs songs as back up and I working on a few new one's too. I plan to buy a portable recorder so I can record our sessions to learn songs I don't know and to come up with back up vocal.
As you can see pretty heavy on the C as we all know, but its where my voice is, G can be high depending on the song and my condition, and when singing with a lot of instruments its hard to yell over it all without screaming my head off esp in G.
Also Key changes I would suggest - maybe (actually I am getting to G and F too - we can try? the situation is that if our voices are not there for the day we have to sing a low G or strain in falseto which does not work without a mic)
Lei Nani in C or G I guess F is ok too Makee Ailana in C (G is a little high but we can try)
Aloha,
Hili |

Aloha, y'all! Thumbstruck & I will be there. We've had quite a week! 3 gigs with Led (Mai Tai Bar at Royal Hawaiian, baby luau in Kaneohe, Kona brewing in Hawaii'Kai), an hour with Eddie Kamai talking story and 2 lessons for me from Alan Akaka (I'm doing everything wrong!!). We also saw Alan & Auntie Genoa at the Marriott and toured around. Details to follow!! |

Hoping to make it (without Lori, alas) between gigs in the neighborhood - doing the radio show, practically next door, from Noon-2 (15th anniversary of the show - a bunch of the hosts will be there!), then a hula gig downtown at 6. I ask you: what better way to spend the time between than playing more music with really wonderful folks? None better, you reply, none better. =g= |

I was told that a week wouldn't be long enough on Oahu. It was true. Slipry1 and I were on the go and still didn't touch all the bases. Great musical inspiration, ono grinds and great people! |

Da Slipry1 made it to my hale tonight (along wid Retro) & tol' some delightful (& delighted) talk story for sure :-)
Since our charming weather kept most folks home ('cept for Kimo, who managed to get here just as the other 2 were leaving), we should have one heckuva kani next Saturday, eh? Just remembah it starts later---'bout 4:30, or as soon as I get home from Mark's workshops. |

Lori & I will try for the 20th as well; with Mark in town, too good an opportunity to pass up. Thanks to neeej for having a warm home available during the storm, thanks to Slipry1 for coming to the radio show AND kanikapotluck with great traveler's tales, thanks to Kimo for coming by (even though I was just heading out), and thanks to the rest of you who tried to get there/thought about trying but didn't go/didn't even consider going because of the weather - thank you for making the safe decisions not to face some of the crazies who were out on the ice in Bellevue. That way, everyone is still alive and uninjured for the 20th.
Thumbstruck & Mark - are you thinking Kona Kitchen for the morning of the 21st? We still have to arrange for Uncle Danny & Mark to meet. |

That's the plan. To think I gotta drive 800 miles just to eat eggs 'n' rice 'n' portuguese sausage...
Ask the lederhosened one what time he wants this clambake to start. I suppose it's now an open secret -- so c'mon down every body.
We eat, we talk, we play a little bit... then I run off and teach `ukulele at Dusty Strings.
See you in a few days -- let's have nice, typical wet Seattle weather for a change, OK? Mark |

Actually, they met at least once. A couple of trips ago, Mark was jamming with Thumbstruck and Slipry1 at Kona Kitchen when Uncle Danny came in with his family for Uncle's birthday celebration. The 'band' did a couple numbers in his honor. |

Last fall, when Danny, Mark & I were communicating by e-mail, they didn't have any recollection of having met. I said that I was astounded that these two, with all their connections to Hawaiian music, had not crossed paths before. I told them that we needed to correct that at our earliest opportunity.
Now, I feel strangely ... vindicated! See you this weekend. |
