I bought my ticket for Ozzie's workshop at Gryphon on 10/29. Just wanted to give everyone a heads up that the tickets are now available. Can't wait....

Here's the "scoop" on Ozzie's workshop:
Intermediate/ Advanced Slack Key Guitar Workshop at Gryphon Guitars in Palo Alto:
Understanding of tablature notation is a pre-requisite for this class. The workshop will cover a range of subject matters in the context of songs including: Saturday, 29 October, 2-4 p.m. Cost: $35/person
The art of slurring
How to make your playing sound smoother - slides and sustains
Moving your music through attack and dynamics
Why tablatures are bad and how to get away from them
Songs to be covered as time allows:
Paka Ua
Hui Ohana’s Slack Key
Keoki’s Ki Ho`alu
Napili Chimes
Chet Atkins’ Opihi Moemoe
Ka`ahele Ki Ho`alu
Ka Wailele O Nu`uanu
Bringing a tape recorder is strongly suggested. Absolutely no videotaping allowed.
The concert on Friday eve: tickets are, I believe, only $20.00. Available through the Tressider Box Office at the STudent Union at Stanford. |

Hey you lucky Bay Area folks:
A workshop with Ozzie is so well worth it (and, a concert too? Wow! I wanna move now). How fortunate it is that he'll be on the mainland and in your area performing and also teaching. He is one of the best instructors out there for slack key, so take advantage of this opportunity while you have the chance. He is a fantastic teacher and a gem of a guy. You will learn LOTS!!!

It was a good concert and a good workshop. Ozzie's a great guy. It was also nice seeing the Bay Area Taropatch regulars.
If you attended the workshop and need a recording of the "demo versions" of the tabs that Ozzie did at the end of the workshop, send me an email. I recorded them and it is easy for me to make a duplicate copy. |
