Who's committed, and what's your status? Who's goin' where, and who's--as we use to say in Alabama...Fixin' to get ready to go... I gotta see if my airmiles can get me there.
Probably thinkin' George's. What's the word on Kevin and the other guest teachers? We'll miss Ozzie this year...but I understand. Cold and Crowing in Cowtown, Kapila Kane

Please excuse the uninitiated question, but what are y'all talking about? Google didn't help any. When and where?

They are talking about George Kahumoku's annual week long slack key guitar/ukulele/hula/slide guitar/etc workshop on Maui each June.
Follow the link in Auntie Maria'a post, above. |

Mighty fine and a great big western howdy to ya, Tex!
The post refers to the growing number of slack key and Hawaiian music camps -- notably George Kahumoku, Jrs. Maui Camp, The Aloha Music Camp with Keola Beamer, Family and Friends, and one that Milton Lau started last summer with Led Ka`apana. See the Live Lessons, Camps, Workshops section http://www.taropatch.net/forum/forum.asp?FORUM_ID=9 for more info on all of 'em.
Hey Andy, maybe you should move this thread???

Milton Lau & Led Ka`apana have not posted their dates or staff, their Waikiki event was in August last summer. In 2006 the dates for the Aloha Camp and George's Maui workshop overlap. I spoke with George about this recently; we are both trying to avoid overlapping in the future, but scheduling the venues for such a complex event can be tricky.
That's one of the reasons Keola and I decided to offer a secoond Aloha Camp in February. This way you can go to both camps.
Here's a link to a recent magazine story about the Aloha Camp http://www.spiritofaloha.com/features/1105/music.html
Hope this helps clear up your confusion.
