Hey now,

Not to be misunderstood - I just want to clarify that I can hardly wait for my next ferry ride to Moloka'i. Go for it!

Aloha Kakou

I've been back in lurker mode mostly for the last couple of months, but I have a transportation related question... or two:

My family and I will be arriving a day early for camp and I will be renting a car just for a day to get us and our stuff to AMC. I will be returning the car on Sunday at about 3:00 PM on June 24. Is there anybody out there arriving around that time (I can flexible within an hour or two either side of that time) with whom I can hitch a ride back to camp, or share the cost of a shuttle?

On the other end, I will need to get to the airport after camp ends on the 30th to pick up a car for our own extended stay plan on the island.

In both directions it will just be me and no gear... well maybe my uke, if I need to wait around a while to connect with somebody. I'm 6'5" but don't take up much space . If anybody has coinciding schedules for shuttles or extra room in a car, please reply or email me (email might be best, as my work schedule has been keeping me from logging on much, and it's not likely to let up much in the next few weeks before camp).

23 days ?!?!?!? OMG !! I need to start thinking about packing ! It'll be my first time, too. I have looked at the tentative schedule and don't see an opportunity for down time... ha ha ha! I want to take something in each time slot.

110. Many of whom are quite small-- we've got piles of keiki coming. That will be fun... and more food for the rest of us. We also have a larger than ususal staff this camp. So maybe ixnay on the ormay oodfay.

Anticipating the next few questions:

About half and half malihini and returning campers. About equally mixed between slack key, `ukulele and hula as first choice. About evenly mixed on levels of experience. About evenly mixed gender-wise. No one from Europe or Asia, but yes on Canada, Mexico. A goodly number from neighbor islands.

The film crew will once again be on hand to complete shooting the doc on Aunty Nona.

As usual, we can't bring lots of Tshirts with us -- so order 'em online now! http://www.cafepress.com/alohacampstore

Don't forget that it will be a waxing moon, reaching full on the final day of camp. So bring your moon-glasses and moon-tan oil.

See you all very soon.

Mark

Aloha mai!

I will be arriving with my nephew on the 24th, early morning. Perhaps we could share a ride? I am 6', 500lbs and take up lots of room! Good thing my nephew takes after my brother who is on the smallish size at 6'3" and 280lbs.

Seriously, we are low budget and would appreciate sharing the ride. Not sure how we plan to return to the airport on Saturday, June 30. Ideas anyone?

I'd just like to point out that I'm acutely aware that AMC is in the offing, that I'm not going and I'm very very jealous.

Wish I could be there - I hope everyone has a great time (I'm sure you will) and I look forward to hearing all about it from people when they get back. Sigh.

Aloha all -

Annie & I are off to Maui in the morning and thence to the Aloha Camp. We are looking forward to seeing many old friends, and meeting as many new ones.

To all of those who won't be there; stand still and listen to the wind some evening -- we'll sing a song for you.

A hui hou.

To any and all to attended this camp.... I am interested in getting in contact with the wonderful gentleman who wrote and sang the song to Aunty Nona. You sang it on open mic night, and again to Aunty Nona at the beach house as she was not able to attend open mic night. Please contact me.. I have some questions for you regarding that beautiful mele! E kala mai for not remembering your name... I can see your face, but I am lousy at remembering names.
