Braddah ed,dat sounded like one good night of divin, anytime you no can see da lobstah cause get to much fish, plus nevah get fined, dat was meant to be.Divin at night wit one potnah to me is halfway like divin by yourself. Most time I look fo my potnah he stay way ovah dea.Braddah ed sounds like you nevah hit da watah fo awhile. But I bet washington get some beautiful fresh watah fishin.Ocean, country no mattah, long as someting stay peelin off line, das good enough fo me.
Braddah chris wat is dat,you no eat lobstah?Brah I would of love to go divin wit you,let em stay on da beach,we goin have good fun.On catalina had two braddah dat use to catch bonita(mackeral)fo bait, while trolling in da deep channel, dey would hook up mako shaak. What I nevah know is dat is exactly wat dey was hoping fo.Soon as dey get em by da boat shot to da head, gut em right dea, into da bag of ice.Two to tree is usually good, wen dey get home dey slice em into steaks. They wrap each one wit one chunk of buttah and garlic salt in foil.I remembah da first company party, big bonfire planny people, choke cold ones, and beautiful girls. And weah I stay, right by da grill.Dat fish in da foil, brah was some ono,I tink I ate about5-6 of dem buggahs, just squeeze da lemon on em brah.Till den I nevah know mako was dat ono,dey say da same ting about da thresher shaak.Anyway I love to hea your guys stories, dey bring back memories, that I sure do miss. But I tink da mastah anglah is menpachi man, dat's just my hunch. Just remember that if it were not for spear fishing, Uncle Raymond Kane would not have learned slack key and would world would be a sadder place, yeah? That fishing started a domino effect that has profound implications. Trading the fish got lessons for Uncle, then he taught so many other people, some of whom are our Taro Patch brothers and sisters, and some of whom have taught others of our Taro Patch brothers and sisters. Who I am sure will continue the legacy, right guys & gals?
Glenn, Ed & Chris - Ho, I tink dese fishing stories make big kine homesick. But Chris, looks like you have fun in water no matter where you go. Maybe should go diving in Lake Michigan or Lake Erie.
Do they permit diving in Lake Tahoe That is one clean, clean, clean lake and way very deep. I bet can see swell stuff down there. Paul caught a big trout there and had to poke da guy to let out all the air pressure before putting him back in da watter. They stay so deep they puff up when you bring them to the top of the water. Except we went there middle of October and was ice at the edge of the lake in the morning. Brrr.
Momi - you cannot let one day of unproductive fishing become your entire fishing history. Where you live, bound to be good fishing.
Braddah Ed: I know you say you live oddah side da mountains in da desert boonies, but wot, no kah. Save yo pennies fo gas and den go driving west. Go west young man. |

Braddah Jay, no can eat lobstah cause stay allergic. No prawn, no opihi, an specially no oyster! One prawn I no goine make, but my family say I small kine psyco aftah I grine um. Two prawn feel like get someone stabbing me in da belly. Oyster sauce in da grines, I goine get covered with two inch red bumps all ovah da body.
Shark I no eat cause wen my "uncle" firs wen take me night dive, he wen tell me "you no eat da shark, an da shark no eat you". Den he wen jump in da watah an disappear- all I see is da fin cut da watah. I sweah he wen change into one shark. I go follow an das when I find lobstah stay choke, all obah da pohaku night time. Byembye he come back, get whole 120 quart coolah full of fish. Me, I no mo shark, so all I wen catch was half dozen lobstah. But I stay hooked fo life on night dive- daytime junk fo fish! An I nebbah wen worry bout shark aftah dat, case uncle wen tell me dey no goine eat me if I leave um alone, an he should know...

Years ago, the Edgewater Hotel on the Seattle Waterfront (famed as the place where all the rock stars stayed and threw wild parties) used to have their slogan "Fish From Your Window" painted on the side of the building.
I used to want to go there with a bucket of fish from the nearby Pike Place Market - and toss them OUT the window. Fish...from my window, y'see.

Hey, you li see one opihi run? You take one pipihi, put da buggah on da side of da opihi get eyes- da high side. Da pipihi eat da opihi, so wen da ophi see da pipihi, he goine stan right up an run away! Cause da opihi mo fast. Some funny, dat!
Small kine secret- wen you like opihi but no get opihi knife and no like whack um wi da rock, try scare um li dat wi da predator. Wen da opihi pick up fo run, das wen you pluck um- easy kine!
Braddah Duke, dat moi/aholehole spot stay Hamakua side- can tell cause da young kine euycalyptus plantation. I tink mebbe Pa'auilo landing but dey nebbah like show where stay so kinda hard...
Bu' me I like da firs kine fishing you wen show- da buggahs jus jump in da boat! Byembye mo bettah hemo da light cause goine be sink boat kine, dat... plenny too many fish!
Remines me small kid time we wen stay neah La Paz, Mexico (1970)- camp out right on the beach. Ebery morning n evening da big fish wen chase da small fish in to shore- da small ones dey jump right on da sand fo get away! Den dey flop bach in da watah if we no grab um firs. So one time I get one idea- cause dey come same time ebery day. So I wen build one fiah right by da watah (no mo nalu dere)- den I put da grill on, an one fry pan. Byembye hea dey come- one wave of fish, stay jumping on da sand. Sho nuff, PLOP!- right in da fry pan, jess li my plan! Real funny kine fo one small kid!
Me, I like dese fish tales- but I nebbah goine compete fo da mastah anglah title! I no fish dat way too much- jes some ono fishing wi my fren off his zodiac sometimes. Sometimes we hook up, though- wish I had da photo in digital, but one time we wen catch so many ono, get one pitcha look li one can sardine- but da "can" stay one 17 foot Zodiac, an da "sardine" stay 40 poun ono! Plenny ono Waipi'o side cause no one like go out- big kine surf obah dere! My fren, he no scaid- but one time he wen watch "America's funniest home videos" an dere he was- trying fo launch tru da surf! No can make um ebery time...
Still, I kinda lazy so I like night dive, cross net, lilbit trow net- easy kine, lilbit hana, plenny fish kine. So me, I only use a rod wen I go in da boat, jes cause no sense nebbah drag one luah wen you goine fo one boat ride, you no? But me, I goine foah da boat ride, an if catch, das extra.

Sometimes they use carp for gefilte fish (kinda like Jewish fish cake) and also pike, because they are plenty bony also. But mostly nobody eats carp beause they garbage eaters. They will eat anykine you tro inna watah. Homely, too wit dem gasping mouts, trying to get you feed dem. Plenny ponds and even fish hatcheries get carp so many ducks walk on dea backs. Is true! Pymatuning Reservoir, border Ohio/Pennsylvania. Get muskies obah dea. Plenny big kine. Look see da Lake Erie muskie: http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/06337/743058-358.stm Some people say they are fresh water barracuda, but I dunno. They just big and ugly and got lots of teeth and eat beer cans and license plates. Or anything else that might be in the water.

Pua you ok but edumacation got notting to do wit pidgin talk. If you tink that colonialst tactics going work then you are wrong. Canadians today are apologising for kidnapping first inhabitant kids to educate dem. Sista you open one raw sore when you equate education with choice of language being used. you bettah go back school and erase the western indoctrination that you are positing in your post. If you was Hawaiian you would sound like one coconut when you write dat kine stuff. You donʻt have to read this thread. |
