You may find this interesting (from Freakonomics); I did - the whole entry, and commentary, is worth reading.
http://freakonomics.blogs.nytimes.com/2008/05/28/what-will-globalization-do-to-languages-a-freakonomics-quorum/#more-2550
Comment: "As with the first expert, English will continue to be the global language - a creole because English itself is a creole, formed from the pidgin that developed between, first speakers of Anglo-Saxon, the original language, and Old Norse, and between the post-Norse English tongue and Norman French, after the Battle of Hastings.
This is why English is so easy to learn - and hard to master. "
I would also add Celtic to the mix - as in Avon (river), cum/cym (a deep valley) and many more. Also, Latin, etc., etc. (Etcetera is Latin, yuk, yuk).
So, Basil, you are writing Pidgin, as am I now :-) The thrust of many of the comments is that more English based Pidgins will form, as Spanglish already has. Particularly Mandarin/English Pidgin. Good fun, yeah?

Ho! Long time no hea pilipino kine pidgin- before time get one nebah from pilipine place, stay one hunred foateen yeah ol. Bymby him stay kinda ol, no moa like fahm all day Waipi'o, him go sta wid da hanai dahta up top. Every day da buggah stay work, smoke da home grown cigah, drink one fif wisky wen pau.
Befoa time, Waipi'o get community spirit. Ol Chinee pellah like giv us one lo'i fo community garden. I stay abou' tweny, pleeny oddah pellah like tweny- tweny fiv like help. Bymby Takio (da ol pilipino) he come by, like help. We stay clear da ches hi grass, all in one row, working. Takio, he squat down end a da row, start sickle. Bymby da buggah stay way up dea, us yung pellah way behine. He stay kick back, rol one cigah, shahpen da sickle a bit- no like embarrass us. Bymby we stay catch up, den we all like work plenny hard fo no let him get ahead. We stay soking wid da sweat, buss ass kine. Takio, he hardly stay moving, jus wave da sickle at da grass an da buggah fall down. No time he pinish da row, stay sit in da shade an laf at all da young pellah stay work so hard. One hunred foateen, n us guys all stay in da twenys. He say blood of da black dog da secret.
Speaking of black dogs, my girlfriend gave my daughter one of her rottweiler puppies. When it grew up, my daughter bred it to the smallest male rott she could find- because she felt bad about giving her to some big bad boy. Anyway the puppies were kind of scrawny and she couldn't sell them for hundreds of dollars like my girlfriend did with hers. One of them she just couldn't get rid of- and it grew up into the most timid, worthless excuse for a dog you can imagine. My daughter wanted to get rid of it, but she had spent a lot on food and wanted to sell it, but no one would even take it for free.
I told my daughter "No problem- I can sell it for a couple hundred dollars. It's all in how you word your ad". She thought that was great, so I ran my ad: "Black dog for sale- $2.50 a pound".
The calls came in, but for some reason my daughter wouldn't sell it. Wrong kind of buyers, she said. Prejudiced against older Philipinos, was my opinion.

But dat ol pilipino pellah, he still stay live in da swamp, growing tobacco an 'uala an kalo, planting kalamungai cuttings any kine place.
