Aloha! Just a reminder that the Waimea Valley Kanikapila is coming up next weekend, February 20th, from 1 to 4 p.m. This month will be our first filming for 'Olelo TV! I will post the date and time it will air on our ning site: http://abrigoohana.ning.com/ Once it airs on 'Olelo, it will be archived and viewable to all on OleloNet for a further four months.
Because of the filming, we will not be allowing outside amplifiers at the event.
Looking forward to seeing you there!

Aloha!
The Waimea Valley Kanikapila continues to grow and grow. We are now on O'ahu television, and the shows are archived on OleloNet for a further 6 months. They are also loaded to our Youtube Channel. Direct links to the videos are below. Please know that these Youtube files are LARGE since they are made for TV, so you should click on the links below, and then click the pause button and allow a few minutes for the video to load so it will run smoothly for you. In the coming months, we are upgrading to HD (wooo hooo!), and are working towards having even better footage for everyone to play along with.

Here's a half hour video of the July 17th Waimea Valley Kanikapila. We had a few people attend that we haven't seen in a while like TPer(slackkey808)Zach Onaga who played Sonny Chillingworth's original version of "Wheeha Swing" Shuji Asakawa(slowhandeagle) who did "Moe Uhane"
Ron Johnson did nice rendition of " Nani Ka'ala" The Abrigos, Timi Emily & Quinn did one ono one each. Then Bruddah Glenn played a Sons of Hawaii mele I don't know the title of.A day of very nice vocalization & instrumentation. Those on the aina need to seriously attend.Mainland TPers passing through should make it a point to put it on their "must go to" list

Dukie - was Kalae o Kaena. I LOVE LOVE LOVE that song. Joe Marshall used to sing it for the Sons of Hawai`i. Patrick Landeza does it mighty fine, too. |

For those of you on O'ahu, you can catch the Waimea Valley Kanikapila on Oahu Channel 52 the first 4 Saturdays of the month at 12:30 p.m. and also on the 3rd Friday at 6:30 p.m. Enjoy, and we hope to see everyone on August 13th! Waimea Valley Kanikapila THIS SUNDAY!
Aloha Musicians & Friends
You are cordially invited by the Abrigo 'Ohana & Ke Kani Nahe to our monthly Waimea Valley Kanikapila being held this Sunday October 16th from 1pm to 4pm in beautiful Waimea Valley on the North Shore (Come an hour early to wala'au with us). We stage this event every 3rd Sunday of the month in an effort to bring back the old Hawaiian style of backyard kanikapila. Admission to the kanikapila is free & ample parking is available. There is also a concession stand were refreshments can be purchased.
Please come & join us as a participating musician or spectator. We welcome all levels of player abilities from absolute beginners to seasoned professionals & strongly encourage sharing musical mana'o (knowledge). Come witness the uplifting experience of how music can bring people from all walks of life to one note, one song and one ohana.
Traditional Hawaiian music is the genre of reference but we will not discourage the sharing of other musical genres. A high quality sound system will be provided by the Abrigo 'Ohana & Ke Kani Nahe for those who wish to plug into the amplified system. Please bring your own instrument cord.
Also, please take note that Lanet Abrigo will be videotaping the kanikapila for Olelo TV. Exerts will be aired during November (or December) on the 1st four Saturdays of the month at 12:30 p.m. (lunch time) in addition to the 4th Friday of the month at 6:30 p.m. A release form will need to be signed in order for your image to be aired on Olelo so it won't be used without your permission. For the best possible audio quality for television purposes we require participating musicians to plug into the main board therefore no personal amplifiers are allowed. It is also to ensure proper musical etiquette so no ones personal amplification disrupts fellow participants by drowning them out. No alcoholic beverages allowed
Join us for a fun filled afternoon of awesome Hawaiian music in an ohana style atmosphere. Tell your friends and family to come and listen, wala'au (talk story) meet nice wholesome people, make musical connections etc etc etc.........Just come & don't miss out!!!!
With Warmest Aloha,
Abrigo 'Ohana: Big Tim Abrigo Lanet Abrigo Timi Abrigo Emily Abrigo Quinn Abrigo
Ke Kani Nahe: Derek Higa Duke Domingo Shawn Machida Samson Ah Mook Sang
