Amy Stillman's wonderful new blog
http://amykstillman.wordpress.com/
has a link to these fantastic newsletters put out in the mid to late 70's.

They are just fascinating to check out.

Here is the direct link to "The Haʻilono Mele Newsletters"

Amy - I think the "subscribe" link on your blog web site is not working. All I get is all that computer code stuff that Menpachi Man would know about. But I am sure that after reading the articles thereon, many people will be beating down the doors in order to subscribe. (I would).

Mahalo.

And wowie - the Ha`ilono newsletters -- what a precious bit of history. And a wealth of knowledge.

Please, may I urge you to read the very first issue which contains the Hawaiian Music Foundation's definition of "What is Hawaiian Music".

I just read in the April 1976 edition, Vol II, No 4, on page 3, an aticle that has to be one of the first reviews ever written about a new band that has only been around for 8 months and to date have not recorded any albums. The Makaha Sons of Ni'ihau. Fascinating stuff.

And for those -- like me -- who struggle to read that tiny font, click "PDF" at the top of each page. Can adjust font (yay!).
