| Spacecraft (and I know whereof I speak, bras - we're speaking of power to weight ratios) mostly run on NiMH batteries. As Lithium Ion batteries (big ones have an ugly habit of catching on fire when overloaded) become more developed, they will probaly replace MimH ones. My big Q is - I don't see any AC outlet for this thing. I love the portability, but I also am a penny pincher, and don't like to replace batteries all da time. DOes this device have an AC outlet? |

| Mine came with a A/C power supply that plugs into what looks like a mini D.I.N. connector on the back of the BA330. I've only been experimenting with batteries so far, as that is the main purpose I bought it for. I don't want any unexpected surprizes at a gig. I'm already thinking about buying another one to double the channels by cascading the stereo inputs/outputs on the back of the BA330. Ric |

Yeah, I thought that DIN looking thingy in the pictures was a power connector, which would make it much like the small Berhinger mixer power connections.

| I got a nice review from Gerry over the phone tonight about his and Keith Marzullo's performance at this weekends outdoor performance at the San Diego (Carlsbad) Marathon. They ran it hard for over 2 and a half hours of performance and playing an MP3 player through it during the breaks without any degredation in the sound quality and output. Maybe Dr. Marzullo (Keith) will chime in with his impressions on this system. Ric |

I stopped by to check out the Southern California Slack Key Society
at Kaisen Sushi in Oceanside, California tonight. Mikale'le was
playing as I stepped in. Lots of friends from the local Island music
community were there:

There were some technical issues with the sound, so I brought in
one of my Roland BA-330's (the first one's still loaned out) and
plugged Bill in. The audience was instantly wowed by the improved
(that's right) sound quality, fidelity and projection. I had shown the
BA-330 to several of the musicians and the battery pack loaded
with 8 RayOVac 2250mAH NiMH rechargeable AA batteries. We
ended up plugging the microphone into the BA-330, too:
I arrived toom late to see Dusty. All the musicians were superb.
Bill's body language and facial expressions are almost as
entertaining as his guitar playing.
As far as the rechargeable batteries go, I've only been able to test
it for 3 hours straght of hard core rock (Zep, Hendrix, Nugent,
Sabbath...) playing an American Strat through some effect pedals
trying my best to wear the batteries down. My wife came home
early and I had to stop the experiment. There was no reduction in
sound quality or volume at that point. Roland claims 10 hours at
full volume (30 watts) on a full charge. I'm relatively sure it will get
close to that, based on my hands on experimentation. How Roland
accomplishes this is beyond my current scope of knowledge. Ric |

Mahalo Rick -- you finally got a picture of me that didn't capture one of my ridiculous expressions -- I like this last one.
The BA-330 was really nice -- when I got in front of it to listen to Terry and Mike is sounded fantastic though it was tough to hear my own sound when sitting behind it -- now if they could just add a monitor to the rear... My other issue is the weight -- 30.5 lbs is a bit much for me -- I'm still thinking about one of the lightweight AERs if I ever get the GAS to buy a new amp.
Come on back to Kaisen and play for us sometime.

The BA-330 works well behind also, Bill. It has a switchable anti-
feedback
What may interest you is the Roland AC-33 Acoustic Guitar Amplifer.

10lbs 6 oz for the AC-33
essentially half of the BA-330 (2 5inch speakers vice four, 2 channel inputs vice four)
The pictures look like an advertisement for Taylor Guitars, though.
I didn't get to hear the NS-74 (nylon string) sound from the amp but Mona assured me it sounded way better than the house mixer and PAs (which we've been having multiple problems with). Looks like you caught me singing and playing Kauai Beauty in Drop C tuning that my buddy, SirDuke58  taught me.
 We also have a turtle propagation problem as well -- dang things keep multiplying.
 Slackkeymom (Kendyl Beschen) was there and played some real nice Keola and Ozzie covers. She keeps getting better every time I hear her and her stage presence improves as her "cumulative mic time" lengthens. |

| The ac-33 looks exactly like my ac-60. everything looks identical except that it will run on batteries. The only dif seems to be 30/30 watts on th ac-60. The ac-60 has plenty of inputs/outputs, the effects you are likely to use, and a sub-woofer out that adds greatly to the sound. A version this amp with batteries has got to be even better. |

| My wife worked a double shift, so I was finally able to perform a good test on the NiMH battery performance. The batteries I used were freshly charged (the day before) on a 1 hour charger. They are the green RayOVac 2250 mAH NiMH batteries carried in the camera department of Wal Mart. I had both of my BA-330 P.A.'s cascaded using the Stereo Link feature. Using an American Standard Strat through a DOD FX55C Supra Distortion pedal and singing through a Sennheizer E838 microphone playing and singing loud classic rock selections. When I wasn't playing, I plugged in my Palm Pre phone using my Jimi Hendrix Pandora channel as the source. It was just slightly short of 5 hours, when I started to hear the first signs of breakup in the audio. This concluded my testing of battery life. I'm 100% satisfied with 5 hours and know that a couple of extra sets of NiMH batteries could sustain an all day wilderness concert. Ric |

| There are no squirrels around my house, Skipper, except on a bed of mashed potatos or in the freezer. We live in rural Vista and have a lot of fruit trees. The trees shield my neighbors from the sound. Ric |
