We have been blessed by having Mike Keale living in the Bay area for the past few months. He is a first cousin to Iz and nephew to Moe Keale.
here is a clip form a concert he gave a few weeks ago in Santa Cruz.
It's such a pleasure watching him perform. I hope his long awaited CD comes out soon.

We were at Waikiki Marriott a few years ago, and from the valet parking area I heard that unmistakable Keale/Kamakawiwo`ole sound...which I followed to its source (Mike), who was performing in the lobby bar at the time. This was after both Moe and my dear friend Israel had passed, so it was a total chicken-skin experience for me. As soon as he finished, I introduced myself and GUSHED (no shame!) about his voice. And he looks soooooooooo much like Moe, it's spooky. Love that voice -- lucky you, to have him in your area now. And yes, that CD is long overdue!

Everyone here in the Santa Cruz area has fallen in love with Mike not only for his singing but also for the feeling of true Aloha that just radiates from the guy. You just enjoy being around, when he is in the room. He also has one of the best smiles of anyone that I can think of. He truly is a wonderful performer.

Milton Lau told me about Mike Keale 3 or 4 years ago. Milton was raving about how good Mike is and that he was hoping to record a CD of Mike soon. Guess that never happened.

There will be a farewell concert at Bocci's Cellar in Santa Cruz on Friday Feb 12th. There will be lots of other local Hawaiian Musicians on hand to say Aloha to Mike. I am expecting a very full house. Tickets are only available at the door and will be $10.00.

Bocci's Cellar is where the Santa Cruz Ukulele Club has their monthly meetings.

I just talked to Mike yesterday - he has a few details to finalize before the CD is released, but it's getting there!

We're all so happy he's moving back home - we've missed him! Truly a wonderful person - sooo full of aloha! Norm, you and Denise can come see him when you're here in June (127 more days, in case you lost track...) My bet is that the Marriott will be happy to have him back - they seemed really happy to see him when he was here in December and sat in with Aaron/George/Martin/Bobby for awhile one Sunday. (fingers crossed, anyway...)
