Awesome story!! Was so pleased to turn on the radio and here them profiling Iz. Btw, the local affiliate refered to him as Izzy, I've not heard that before. Was that correct? I always heard Brother Iz.

I don't know how it got started, but "Izzy" is used very commonly by mainland folks who are only slightly acquainted with Israel.

thanks for posting that.

I found these very moving interviews the other day:

a tribute with lots of nice photos

IZ has been a special inspiration for me personaly.
I am convinced now after hearing him speak, his sence of humor especialy, that he was big protective brotherly polynesian man in my dreams several years ago that inspired me to play hawai'ian music , this well before I knew who he was or heard his music. I only found the 'somewhere over the rainbow' memorial tribute to him this year- the week I had a favorite pet,a rescue that I had a special bond with, 'cross the rainbow bridge', so it holds a very powerful signifigance for me, as if letting me know "love never dies".

"I guess this is gonna sound kind of weird, but I'm not scared for myself for dying. Because I believe all these places are temporary. This is just one shell. Because we Hawaiians live in both worlds."

I agree with him very much on this , only I believe this goes for everyone and everything, if only we can sense it ;)

Thanks, I did not think it was a common nickname.

A friend told me of a call-in show done in Honolulu after Iz passed. Someone called in and said, "Iz isn't was, Iz is is."
The good we do can continue after us.

Nothing about your post sounds 'weird'. You were blessed with a Master who visited you when your heart was open. Warm thoughts on your pet, and as you already know, love is - even after the body.

As a dear friend of mine told me just before he passed from brain cancer, "I've always been a pioneer, and I'm off to the next great daventure. I'll greet you on the other side"
