| Agree with this article. If people just want to lay in the sun by the water, no need to go to Hawai`i. Can save bucks and go elsewhere. What sets Hawai`i apart is that the culture is alive and vibrant, and the language is the most important part of that picture. It is a most beautiful and poetic language. It is lovely to listen to, both in the spoken word and in mele. |

Well, Al, maybe some who did not put importance into the language as a result of cultural pride will pay attention when dollars are involved. If people hear the language, perhaps it will motivate some to want to learn the language.

Although a Hawaiian language Consulting encouraging the spending of money on Hawaiian Language (consulting and promotion) is a wee bit self serving. What else would you have expected him to say. . . . My job is a waste of time so don't pay me?
However, the fact remains that what hepls make Hawai'i special is the language and culture. |

| After rereading the article the state of language in the US came to mind. New Mexico is officially bi-lingual. Native American languages on the mainland are given recognition. French has a special status in Louisiana. German is still spoken in the Dakotas, as is old Norwegian. Proficiency in English is good, but understanding and speaking another language has been shown to give kids a boost towards higher education besides them being able to relate to others that speak languages other than English. The more you learn, the more you can learn. |

Try dis vun:
Open up Google. Go to the settings (options). Go to 'Search setting'. Under "Interface Language", choose "Bork-bork-bork!"
Save preferences.
Oh, you can choose Hawaiian, too. But "Elmer Fudd" is more fun. |

Old futs start it and then our young die for it. Then when they come home nobody like spend the money they made on taking care of these young people. It was all about money when the traitorous 13 staged their coup. They overthrew a valid govʻt so that they could keep on selling sugar. Same ole crap money, money money. Greed and avarice raises its head again. |

Yep. Capitalism is based on two deadly sins: greed (I want more) and envy (I want more than you). As ?I have often said, the most dangerous place you can be is between a capitalist and a source of money. He (or she) will do ANYTHING (murder, betrayal, etc.) to get to it. Witness the history of Hawaii. |
