This week on Pakele Live! with Tony Solis our guest is Junior Kekuewa Jr. (with special guests).

A nationally and locally recognized award-winning radio and television personality, producer, entertainer, composer, arranger, and voice teacher, Junior began performing vocally at age 5. He started playing ‘ukulele at age 9, guitar at age 14, and played trumpet, cornet, tuba and drums in his high school band. At age 14 he also became the youngest radio announcer on the island of Kaua’i (on KUAI am).

Junior has authored well over four hundred original compositions in a wide variety of styles, including classical, waltz, ballad, jazz, Hawaiian/Hapa-Haole, contemporary, Spanish, country, commercial orchestration, and Tagalog-English (Taglish). He’s written themes for radio and television, and has composed, arranged and produced countless commercial jingles. He also has many years experience in radio as an on-air personality, program director, production director, copywriter and station voice. In addition, he’s done commercial voicing since 1985 for clients such as Verizon, United Airlines, Toyota, Pizza Hut, Sears, Domino’s Pizza, and many more. (He even played the role of “The Mailman” on the Checkers & Pogo Show in 1985!)

In addition to his weekly “Junior ‘Live’ in Waikiki” show every Friday night at the Sheraton Princess Kaiulani, Junior is the owner and instructor of the Voicemaster Voice Training School. He’s taught over 875 voice students to date, including recording artists, beauty pageant winners, an international Filipino film actress, a Brown Bags to Stardom winner, two Hawaii Stars winners, Oceanic Kiddieoke champions and more. Voicemaster students have won almost every major singing contest on O’ahu in the past fifteen years.
