Aloha e all Slack Key Guitar fans! Word on the street is there's a new record coming out Sept 23 by jazz pianist GEOFFREY KEEZER that features 3 songs with KEOLA BEAMER!!! The record is called "FALLING UP" and it's on the Maxjazz label. (Geoffrey also played on 3 songs on Keola's new CD "Mohala Hou - Songs From the Hawaiian Renaissance"). It should be available in all Borders and Tower stores, Amazon.com and anywhere else you can find jazz records. Maika'i!
But seriously, anyone interested in slack key - or important new music - should check this out.
While we were working on the mix of "Mohalo Hou" Keola played me some tracks. I was totally blown away (and I'm not easy). This is some extremely cool music -- Geoffrey has created something completely new and very appealing.
And no, it ain't New Age meandering, either (so what do you get when you play New Age music backwards??? New Age Music.)-- there's real interesting stuff going on.
