The holiday season is approaching much to my non-shopping dismay. So to save any of you fellow non-shoppers out there, how about a holiday giveaway?
Fran Guidry kindly donated a He Mele Aloha song book that he picked up on his last trip to O`ahu. I figure it would be appropriate to give it to someone who has been hosting jams, kanikapilas, practices? Should it be limited to hosts or anyone who has participated? What do you all think?
Anyone want to volunteer or nominate Taropatch.net members for this drawing? I'll pick out a name on December 1st.
The list so far: - slkho
- `ianui
- Gary A
- Catheglass
- ohanabrown
- slackkey (bill)
- Bruddah Chrispy
- Javerio
- Bob Stuart
- Rich Smith
- chunky monkey
- jsulle
- dfpet
- Pulelehua & Lawrence
- FLKLEONG
- Ken Schmidt

Well, Fran, if you weren't the one who donated the book, you should qualify too.
So who should I put in from the Maui crew? Please help me out so I do not forget anyone. |

For the PNW area, Bruddah Chrispy has hosted several, and has taken a lead in organizing monthly get togethers.
Javerio graciously hosted one at his home. And Bob Stuart and Rich Smith are both scheduled to be hosts.

Whoa, that's mighty generous. But how do we decide who wants to win a beautiful ipu? Not all slack key guitar, `ukulele and/or steel guitar players want an ipu, do they??? Just want to be sure your kind donation is played! |

Andy, its okay, you don't need to play it. You can display it as an art piece in the home. A little slice of Hawaii to call your very own. -slkho |

hey, here's another one: frank leong (FLKLEONG), who is a lurker on this site (aloha e frank!) frank is the current kumu of the Kealani Uku Pickers, and is one hot musician who can play pretty much anything that makes a melodious noise. most saturdays he invites the K.U.P. over to his place for an afternoon of music and food. we always have a great time.

Well how far back do you want to go?
Pulelehua and I have not hosted any Kanikapila in the last year or so, but we hosted several with a number of Taropatchers attending. One in January of 2002 and another in July 2002. (Julie & Larry, Ed & Helen, Hiram, Doug, Dan S, Alan K, etc - about 12 folks showed up, several more were invited such as Fran, Piffle, etc., who did not show up).
We actually used to have them Monthly at our house a few years back with just a few folks attending before TaroPatch.net existed.
Our home renovation projects kinda got in the way of hosting more recently, but we plan to do so again.
