Perhaps someone could identify everyone in the picture? I recognize Dennis Kamakahi, Martin Pahinui, Cyril Pahinui, Richard Ho`opi`i, George Kahumoku, and I think that is Ledward's head hiding behind someone else. Is the young guy David Kamakahi? |

From left to right, I say:
Bobby Ingano, Martin Pahinui, Dennis Kamakahi, Peter DeAquino (Da 'Ukulele Boyz), Cyril Pahinui, Richard Ho`opi`i, Wayne Wong, George Kahumoku, Jr.
And you are correct, Ledward Kaapana is hiding in the back. |

Ledward hides a lot. The first Grammy party he was determined to be the soundman and hid behind a seemingly artificial palm behind and below the stage. Ledward shy? I really think so. I have seen and talked to him a half dozen times and he is really friendly, but never promotes himself.
Andy, you remember at Symphony Space (NYC) the night we had that nice French meal across the street, and Led signed your 'uke? He was just hanging out at the rear of the theater and would talk to anyone who started up a conversation with him, but he wasn't looking to initiate anything himself.

The photo of the artists above was taken at the Ritz-Carlton, Kapalua at a reception given by the hotel on February 21 in honor of the Grammy musicians. The Ritz-Carlton pastry chefs constructed a cake with two gold colored full-size models of a Grammy carved in pure chocolate. The cake was delicious, but even more tasty was the show which followed featuring most of the artists on the "Legends of Slack Key Guitar - Live from Maui" album. For me the most memorable moment was Cyril and Martin Pahinui playing and singing "Hi'ilawe." I know that many of us there were thinking of Gabby. It was slack key heaven on Maui that evening. |

Paul - that had to be chicken skin time -- to hear Cyril and Martin playing Hi`ilawe. CD - 16.95; Taylor Guitar $2,000...Martin & Cyril playing Hi`ilawe - priceless! |
