After 30 years in Hawai'i I still don't pass the test!

These I just didn't get. Is that because I only been O'ahu couple times? Please explain.
31. You know what (and where) "Morgan's Corner" is (and it still scares you!)
35. You give Kahi Mohala's numba out to one guy/girl you no like.

This one just doesn't apply- no relation to Lingle. Have to go all the way back to Rathburn for this to work!
48. Da Governor is your cousin (or your mother's brother's father's sister's uncle's son).

And these? Well, I just have better taste than that. Last time I went to McDonalds you could get a burger, fries, and a soda for a quarter- so let's just say it has been a while...

Chris, don't feel bad. I don't get 'em all either.

Morgan's Corner is a spot in Nu`uanu that's said to be haunted. There's an old urban legend about a date gone horribly wrong there where someone was killed. It's not a good place to be caught after dark whether you believe the legend or not. Most of Nu`uanu is said to be haunted by spirits of warriors who died in that huge battle for supremacy of O`ahu.

Kahi Mohala is a rehab facility.

I'm going to open myself up for huge ridicule here, but I don't think I've ever been to Rainbow Drive In. A couple of musician friends (one from Kane`ohe!) were waxing poetic about the waffle dogs at a place in Waikiki, and looked horrified and pitying when I admitted I'd never had 'em!

Whoa, who knew?!?! Last waffle dog I had was at KC Drive In before they closed. A quick google found this. Now I gotta get back to Oʻahu! Can you get 'em at the Waikiki location or is it special order only?

Good. That's just one less longtime Hawaiian-style plate lunch landmark that you'd be homesick for, along with, among other mouth-watering dishes, their famous and succulent hamburger steaks covered in onions and brown gravy over hot rice with extra scoop mac salad, and their soft and juicy teriyaki beef plate lunches dripping with teri sauce also over hot rice with extra scoop mac salad on the side.

No biggie.

Wow -- first time I saw this list (a shorter version at the time) had to have been 1994/1995, during the early online "cyber `ohana" days in the newsgroups. Still funny, more than a decade later!

Saw something in one of the Honolulu papers this week, that was one of those "only in Hawai`i" items. It was a missing report, and the description included the info that the person has "ehu hair"...with no explanation for those who might not know that's _red_ hair.

Only in Hawai`i...!

Funny how we use Japanese words like ebi, tako, ika- instead of Hawaiian- for bait...
