You know you from the Big Island if:
You stop for talk story in da middle of da road, an all da ka'a behind you nevah boddah for honk- even though some long you wala'au!
All your life you live Big Island, but nevah yet wen for see Waipi'o...
(All your life you live Waipi'o side, but nevah wen go see Ka Lae)
-Personally I like to explore and I have been all over the island, but in the 30 years I lived in Waipi'o it amazed me how many hundreds of people told me "Oh, you live Waipi'o? I hear some nice! Born and raised Big Island, but neveh yet go..." Same thing for people on our side of the island, they never go to the other side and are proud of it.
You know get one pua'a loa lurking for give one ticket cause fo couple miles everyone wen flash da lights.
No can go by Honoka'a and nevah stop at Tex' Drive In for Malasada.
You take Mamalahoa through Holualoa cause no mo reason for go Kona, not worth the traffic.
You remember the first stoplight they put in your town, if there is a stoplight...
If the fish stay caught yesterday, you nevah like.
When you hear "Puff, the magic dragon, lived by the sea, and frolicked in the autumn mist, in a land called Honoli'i", you stay been Honoli'i in da fall an know what kine "magic dragon" da braddahs stay Puff deah hahvest season, and why Jackie Paper no more some big bummahs.

- You go to da Hawaii plantation village and the houses look like da one you (or your grandfather or friend, etc) lived in.
- You went to one wedding at Sun Sun Lau.
- You miss Mun Cheung Lau
- Know who hangs out on Mamo Street
- Know that when you go to da "beach", you going be sitting on lava rocks.
- They stop selling beer at 11:00pm
- The traffic signals start flashing late at night.

I'm not from Hawaii, but I know plenty Hawaiian people. One result is that the almost all the numbers in my cell phone are under the letter B for "braddah".
