Hi to everyone! It's been a while since being on TP, but I just had a sneakin' hunch that there would be some evidence of Folklife happenings this week. As a Folklife Virgin (great name, Momi!), I can only say what a thrill it was to be there and what a ball I had. It was so terrific seeing old friends and meeting new ones. Of course, there was music, music everywhere, and so many different kinds. It was so overwhelming at times, but in a great way. Mahalo nui to Jack for your hospitality and to Gregg and Lori and all the Seattle bunch who made this trip so special for me. You guys rock! For those who have never been to Folklife, it's one of those "gotta do" things. It was totally cool, and good fun was had by all. Thanks for the pix too, Lori! - Maggie

Wow! This is a major whoop-de-do! Looks like a great opportunity to share all kine music. How excited I was to be able to see my friends, not only in Momi's great still pictures, but in video as well! Almost like being there. You Oddah Guyz are so very talented. Jack & Kory - WOW! Oh, did I say Wow again? Well, I'm overwhelmed by the talent. It is hard to think of something more appropriate than Wow. Al - you got good chops and good voice. And you sure looked like you were having such fun. Gary - great to see you as well and hear that nice voice. And Retro.what can I say? Nice song in the video, and a good one to sing for Momi. Sheesh, the words go so fast, I love the song, but cannot sing that fast. Wouldn't even know you are not Hawaiian. Jesse - it must have been a great treat for the folks to have you join them.

Thanks to all for sharing your experiences, pictures and videos and for those who provided entertainment, thank you as well.

But I am bummed that Braddah Ed was not there. I was so hoping that Momi would bust him out of the witless protection program so I could see him. Bummahz.

Eh Momi, braddah Ricky just left my house. We were talking about Folklife and how he accidentally found out about it while shopping at Uwajimaya's. He said he was in da auditorium watching Da Oddah Guyz too, but then he had to leave to attend da Doug McKeague fundraiser up in Redmond where he got to watch Brother Noland perform backyard style for 2½ hours straight. I told him about what I've been reading here on da lo'i about Folklife and he and I agreed dat we should be making serious plans to attend next year's one.

Hey there!

I haven't seen the issue yet, but will get my copy soon. Mahalo to Danny Kaopuiki for writing about me. I'm real humbled by it and am usually not one to be in the spotlight. The real credit to our music scene down here is every one in our area that supports Mele Ohana and Hawaiian cultural arts. We've got some phenomenal folk Is here that are so wonderful and full of aloha. I am pretty amazed by it all. Mahalo for all of you on Taropatch who I've come to know over the years. It's been a great ride! - Maggie

Hwy Wanda (Paul, too)!! I;ll talk to you about it when I see you in August, but you guys can stay with me if you come to Folklife next year. Maggie & Chico from Sweet Aloha stayed with me this year
(along with other friends from the State of Jefferson). I run some sort of B&B (I LOVE to cook!).
