This week’s guest on Pakele Live! with Tony Solis is Leilani Rivera Bond. The daughter of Larry Rivera (Kaua’i’s "Living Treasure" and the author of such songs as “Kamalani” – made famous by Bruddah IZ), Leilani was born, raised, and still resides on the island of Kaua`i, where she is a musician, recording artist, and the kumu hula of Halau ‘O Leilani.

Having recently returned from her annual mainland appearance with special guests the Makaha Sons, Leilani will be playing selections from her 5th album, “Aloha ‘Anianiau,” a traditional Hawaiian CD which received very positive reviews from the music editors of both of Honolulu’s newspapers. Produced by the award-winning, multi-talented Michael Ruff (Amy Hanaiali’i, Cyril Pahinui, Bonnie Raitt, John Lee Hooker, David Sanborn, and many more!) the album features guest appearances by Na Hoko Hanohano award winners Willie K., Holunape, Paul Togioka, Eric Gilliom, Zanuck Lindsey, and more. Among the musicians accompanying Leilani at her Pakele Live! appearance will be Kimo Artis.

Please join us Thursday, May 7 from 6-8 p.m. HST at the Pakele Lounge in the Ala Moana Hotel (410 Atkinson Dr., Honolulu). It’s free, and free parking is available next door at Ala Moana shopping center. Drinks and pupus are available for purchase.
